Each month, we are posting updates from every church to better keep those part of one church more closely connected with those in the other churches. As we grow as a family, these are important moments to celebrate, pray for, and support what Jesus is doing in these communities. These updates will included updates, stories, prayer requests and a little glimpse into the life of the church. We hope these updates are encouraging to you!
This past month has been incredibly rich and full of exciting things. We love what Jesus is doing in Ventura and how he's growing us as a church. These past few months have been challenge, exciting, terrifying, invigorating and joyful all at once! We're learning more and more what is looks like to trust Jesus as he works.
Here are a few highlights:
Just last week, we got to baptize two amazing gals: Justina and Chris. It was a joy to hear their story, and how God has brought them back to himself. It's always incredible to see how God weaves so many, seemingly unconnected things together for our good and his purpose, and these two stories highlighted that truth!
Our Very First Easter
As a new church, this was our very first Easter weekend, and it was a doozy! First off, we got to join with Seed Church for our Good Friday service experiencing the work of the cross together. It was a surreal moment bring two churches together around Christ - truly amazing.
Then, we were invited to take part in a sunrise Easter service at the cross at Grant park that's been happening for about a decade. They invited me (Bert) to teach, and it was an honor to share the good news of the gospel to so many in our city! There were about 5 churches that pulled together to make this happen, and it was truly amazing to see that kind of unity for the sake of reaching Ventura.
Finally, we had our own Easter service, hosted at the Knights of Columbus Meeting Hall. It was a blast! Not only did we get to boldly preach the gospel of Jesus, worship him and meet some new people from the city, but we had a Photo Booth! Which is always amazing.
Restored LA Launch Day
Bert & Sherry and a few others from our family of churches got to celebrate the launch of a new church - Restored LA! Many of you know Brad & Sarah Sarian, who helped start Restored Church in San Diego, and it was such a fun moment to join with them in the work God is doing in the Chatsworth / Northridge cities.
Here are a few areas to be praying for:
As we are growing, we are excited to see a diversity of people who are joining Anthem, please pray that continues! One of th things I love, is looking out on a Sunday, seeing people young and old, with and without kids, people from different economic background - basically people who wouldn't normally hang out, come together because of the gospel! We love it and want more of it!
In addition, as we grow, we are reaching our capacity with kids and thinking through other possible locations that will enable to serve families better! We love our location in the city, and we believe the Lord has led us here for now, but we are also praying for where God might take us next. Please join us in that prayer!
Thank you so much to everyone that's come out to support and encourage us - that means more than you know! And we so appreciate everyone praying for us as we start to exit this launch season and develop some rhythms as a new church.
