Thousand Oaks Monthly Update - July

Each month, we are posting updates from every church to better keep those part of one church more closely connected with those in the other churches. As we grow as a family, these are important moments to celebrate, pray for, and support what Jesus is doing in these communities. These updates will included updates, stories, prayer requests and a little glimpse into the life of the church. We hope these updates are encouraging to you!

July has been a very fun time with Anthem Thousand Oaks. We have seen a lot of new faces with us during our Sunday gatherings. Many of our community groups have been meeting up at cafes, coffee shops, doing beach days, and just spending time with each other throughout the summer. We love knowing that people in our church are growing in relationship with one another.. It is fantastic to see!

John and Patti Franklin Send Off

On Sunday, July 24th we had the privilege of praying out John and Patti Franklin who were founding members of Anthem Church. John and Patti are heading out to Atlanta to join their family out there. It has been such an incredible joy to have such godly and faithful people as the foundation of Anthem Church! We will miss them dearly and we pray for health and blessing for the Franklin family.

Discipling Your Kids

This Friday will be our final week with our “Discipling Your Kids” class, taught by Steve and Connie Larson. Steve and Connie are an incredible wealth of knowledge and experience when it comes to raising children to follow Christ. This class has been super fun and illuminating for the parents who were able to attend. If you were not able to attend this class and would like to hear the recordings, we will post them in the coming weeks for those interested in learning more.

Coming Up

Anthem Anywhere

This is a Sunday where the body of Christ at Anthem Church is meeting “house to house” if you will. We are excited to take a Sunday and specifically remind ourselves that “the church” is not a building but a gathered group of believers in Jesus Christ. People are gathering in homes, parks, coffee shops and a variety of other venues around Ventura County to worship Jesus, study the Scriptures, take communion and pray together.

On Sunday August 7, Anthem Camarillo, Anthem Thousand Oaks, and Anthem Ventura will not be meeting in their normal buildings, but Anthem Church will still be gathering. We are encouraging families, community groups and groups of friends to gather for worship, studying the Scriptures, prayer, giving and communion wherever you want to meet.

Anthem Summit

We are so excited for Anthem Summit this year! Our focus this year is to turn our attention and training towards how the gospel and mission of Jesus informs our regular, day-to-day lives and brings greater intentionality to the mission of making disciples that God has given to every believer. I'm really stoked to see people from all three churches worshipping together, learning together, growing together and for us to see the bigness of what God is doing!

Things To Be Praying For

Psalm 127:1 says that, “Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain”. We really believe that seeking the Lord in prayer is so important in seeing significant things done for the Kingdom of God. Please join us in seeking the Lord in prayer for Anthem Church.

  • Pray that God would continue to raise up new community group leaders.
  • Pray for more people to find new life and Christ and obedience in baptism.
  • Pray that we as a church would continue to grasp the specific mission that he has put us on in the city of Thousand Oaks and the Conejo Valley.
  • Pray for the upcoming year at T.O. High School and whatever we can do to be an encouragement, a blessing, and gospel source for them.
  • Pray for our Elder Team, as the new set of prospective elders are in their season of testing for the next month.
