Thousand Oaks Monthly Update - April

Each month, we are posting updates from every church to better keep those part of one church more closely connected with those in the other churches. As we grow as a family, these are important moments to celebrate, pray for, and support what Jesus is doing in these communities. These updates will included updates, stories, prayer requests and a little glimpse into the life of the church. We hope these updates are encouraging to you!

It’s April and California looks so amazing and green right now. Springtime is here and we experienced a fantastic month of March and we’re looking forward to what God is doing in the coming months. We have continued to work through the book of Nehemiah as a church and God has continued to teach and guide us as we’ve gone through his word together.

In March we hosted a very fun Easter in our building this year. We had 3 very full services where we enjoyed praising our risen king Jesus together. Our 9:30am service was so packed with people that we ran out of chairs. This was actually a very fun time for us to really worship Jesus as a church all gathered together.

On April 3rd we baptized Joe Clarke. Baptisms are always an amazing time at Anthem Church where we really love to celebrate the new life in Christ. Joe shared his amazing story, he professed of Jesus’ amazing grace in his life, he was baptized, and we cheered like crazy for him. If you have never had the amazing opportunity of baptism I would encourage to consider taking that next step in your faith.

On Sunday, April 10th we introduced our newest members of Anthem T.O. to the body. This was a really sweet time where the Elders prayed over the new members and affirmed them into membership life with us. Now, when we talk about membership we are always insistent (along with the Scriptures) that membership is not organizational (as in, members to/of an organization), but it is primarily relational (members one of another). This year we really want to press into truly caring for one another and bearing one another’s burdens as a church. We see the importance of pressing into this as a church. We will be running Intro To Membership sessions multiple times a year and encourage everyone to jump in as soon as possible!

Recently, we got an opportunity to hear from our Laundry Love crew. Laundry Love is an awesome opportunity to show love to our neighbors in the community by providing quarters at the laundromat. There has been an invested group of people through Anthem T.O. in the last year who have gone once a month to the same laundromat to make relationships and to help with the felt need of money for laundry. We’ve learned that loads of laundry at the laundromat can get very expensive, especially for families. This is a great place for our community groups to step in on mission and give of themselves, to build relationships, and share the love of Jesus with people in our community. If you are interested in giving quarters for Laundry Love, there is a red basket with quarter rolls in our lobby on Sundays.
