Third Thursday Devotional: January 2015

That sounds like an utterly ridiculous question, right? It seems so obvious that we would all want wisdom in our lives. I’m thinking through my friends and everyone that I can think of is facing some life moment that requires wisdom that is seemingly out of reach. Job decisions, parenting decisions, marriage/communication issues, financial management, spiritual leadership, church directions, etc.

Collectively as a group and individually, wisdom is something that we crave desperately.

The Bible’s answer is to ask for it.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. (James 1:5 ESV)

Tomorrow is Third Thursday. We will be meeting at 7:00 at the Arcturus Chapel in Thousand Oaks with the very specific goal of seeking God for wisdom, corporately (together) and individually. We will provide space and opportunity for prayer, worship, ministry and seeking together for wisdom.

If you need prayer for life decisions or directions or simply want to join with the body at Anthem to pray for wisdom for the elders as we continue on this journey that God has entrusted to us, join us!

We all need wisdom, it’s just a matter of taking the time to obey the Scriptures and ask for it, so we are giving a night to the pursuit of wisdom from God!

  1. If you are facing major life decisions/directions… Consider fasting for the day tomorrow in preparation for a night of seeking wisdom from God.
  2. Bring a journal. If we are going to seek wisdom from God and anticipate that he is going to follow through, we are going to want to process through that!
  3. If you’re bringing your family, cast vision to the little ones—Why do you as a family need wisdom? Why would we seek God for wisdom? Why is a night like Third Thursday important?
  4. Bring your Bibles, we will look back on what God has been teaching us in preparation for where God is taking us!
