Anthem Ventura January Updates

IMG_0015.jpg

In our first month of the new year, and really the first month of this new journey, January has been an exciting month for Anthem Ventura, and Anthem Church as a whole!

I want to share with you all a few of the things that have gotten Sherry and I really thrilled about in this new God adventure we're on, and a few different ways you can be supporting us throughout this next year.

UPDATES:

I'll lump in the end of December here, but in one month, we wen't Facebook official, if you will. We launch our online presence, our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. We now have an online home for all of the update, news and stories coming from our new story. We have been met with overwhelming love on the webs, and if you haven't already, go like/follow/post our pages.

We also had our first interest meeting this past week, and got to share the heartbeat of Anthem as well as the vision and dream and heart for this new church in the city of Ventura. It went so well, in fact, people who were there were excited for another interest meeting so that they could bring friends to the next one! We will keep you all updated, but we're looking to late March for our second interest / vision meeting.

We've had a community group meeting since the summer of 2014 in Ventura, but just this month we are getting ready to reproduce and start our second community group serving and loving Ventura in a few short weeks! Brian Waite will be leading this new group.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

I always love coming back to John 20, when I'm thinking about the Anthem family:

Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” (John 20:21 ESV)

As believers, we are a sent people. Jesus has sent us to where we are now, and we are to empower others to be sent also. So, at Anthem, you are either the senders or the sent. As the sent, Sherry and I are looking to you, the senders, for some support in a few really important areas:

  1. Pray for us. Regularly, fervently, consistently, pray. Click here to get email updates to know how to pray for us.
  2. Give. Resources, time, money... whatever! We can definitely use and need the gifts God has blessed the family of Anthem with, moving forward.  Click here to give money (select 'Ventura' from the drop down), and click here to emailbert@anthemchurch.org with other resources you may have to contribute.
  3. Join us. Maybe something about all this Ventura talk has stirred something in you. Maybe you already live int he Ventura/Oxnard area. Maybe you know some people you'd like the grace of Jesus to impact. Whatever your story is, we are currently building a launch team and would love to have you join us. Email bert@anthemchurch.org for more info.
  4. Learn more and share. Check out our website, anthemventura.org, and anything you find compelling or share-worthy, share it with someone who might be interested!

Ventura is a city in need of more visible demonstrations of the grace of Jesus. Our dreams are big and our hearts are full. Jesus loves Ventura, he loves the people in Ventura and he wants to see those in the city of Ventura brought back to himself.

When we look at scripture, we see the primary means of the mission of Jesus moving forward is through his church.  In light of that big calling, we are starting a church in Ventura to help people find their way back to God.
