Each month, we are posting updates from every church to better keep those part of one church more closely connected with those in the other churches. As we grow as a family, these are important moments to celebrate, pray for, and support what Jesus is doing in these communities. These updates will included updates, stories, prayer requests and a little glimpse into the life of the church. We hope these updates are encouraging to you!
This was a really fun full Month for us in Camarillo, and it was jam packed! From praying over and introducing our newest group of members at Equip, to relaxing at our Mens BBQ at the Linns, to topping it off with a week of VBS at the end of the month.
We had an amazing time at Equip where we introduced and prayed over 31 new members in Camarillo. It was a sweet time for us to publicly recognize and pray over our commitment to one another as we move forward in serving Jesus together in Camarillo as his church family! We are so excited for this fun funky family he’s putting together and how he is going to use us for his glory in Camarillo!
Mike Linn opened up his home and more importantly shared his Traegger BBQ secrets with about 25 men from Camarillo. We gathered around good food, (I mean really good food), good drink and great conversation. Everywhere I turned I saw people engaging in conversation with others who were very different from themselves.
It was a sweet time to cultivate relationships and slow down a bit, there wasn’t a huge agenda it was simple. Come enjoy a great meal, chat or just sit whatever you want to do, and know that you aren’t alone, and that you’re loved. Keep an eye out on the Anthem Weekly for our next Mens Gathering.
Alex Greene our Anthem Kids Lead had this to say about VBS “We had our second annual VBS at Anthem Camarillo and it was a blast! This years theme was God in Action. Throughout the week we heard Bible stories, sang songs, played games, and did crafts centered around the idea of God in Action. It was a joy to see and hear volunteers dive into their designated roles and lead our kids through some of these things. I loved hearing in our Bible story time how God had used unlikely and ordinary people to fulfill His plans, followed by an invitation for our kids to join into that story as well.
It took a ton of energy each day, but seeing the kids learn about the God who made them and loved them was well worth it. I love the neighborhood VBS model because it opens up the doors for families who may feel uncomfortable coming to a church. We had a few kids attend this year who were invited from school and sports teams. Our hope is to see this increase in the years to come. We look forward to having multiple sites next year as God grows our hearts to be on mission in our community. Join us next year June 26-30, 2017!”
This year was a huge win and I was so proud of the volunteer staff that took vacation time, and selflessly poured into these kiddos. Alex Greene and Nicole Raden are amazing, and this year wouldn’t have happened without their leadership! We are praying for two more sites next year, start praying now about participating, and hosting a Neighborhood VBS in your community next June! If you are interested or have any questions email Nicole Raden at email@example.com check out the slide-show below to get a taste of what VBS was like!
Anthem Camarillo at the Park August 28th
We are going to gather with Chapel City Church on the 28th to worship together at Bob Kildee Park right outside the Boys and Girls Club at 10am. This will be a fun time for us to enjoy the extended body of Christ together, like us, they desire to see the community of Camarillo come to know Jesus.
